On July 1-2, 8-9, together with a partner organization “Bioethics Society”, GASW conducted trainings for doctors and nurses of Kakheti region villages, within the framework of the project “Improving Health and Social Care Accessibility For People With Disabilities.” The topic of the training : rights of people with disabilities, types of communication, autism, tools for identification of child early development disorders, social worker’s role in a primary healthcare – international experience, specifics of the patients rights’ protection hot line functioning.
Project is financially supported by the “Caritas Czech Republic in Georgia and it covers Samegrelo Zemo-Svaneti and Kakheti regions. According to one of its goals, the majority of a primary healthcare medical staff and the state social workers of these regions were trained on above stated issues. Training is also planned for Kakheti region doctors and nurses on September 2-3.
The project innovation is adding of a social component to a functioning hot line on patients’ rights for people with disabilities. Use the hot line service 2-103-003 and get the information on services accessible for people with disabilities.
Within the framework of the project, it is also planned to introduce the course “Social Worker’s Role in a Primary Healthcare – International Experience” to a medical faculty curriculum. Also, the activities are carried out to pilot the delivery of social workers’ services in a family medicine center “VERE XXI”.
