On June 13, 14 and 15, GASW will hold a training “Development of Social Skills in Young People with Disabilities”. The training will be conducted within the framework of the project “Support of Social Inclusion of Youth with Disabilities in Georgia” that is being implemented in cooperation with Czech International organization “People in Need” with assistance of the Czech Development Agency. The trainings are provided to the grantee organizations of Children and Youth Development Fund (The Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs) and to the part of their beneficiaries. Training is being implemented in cooperation with the Children and Youth National Center (The Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs). The key goal of the training is to support the grantee organizations of Children and Youth Development Fund, implementing the projects directed at the enhancement of the employability of youth with disabilities.
Part of this training is provided to a mixed group (representatives of the grantee organizations and individuals with disabilities, getting benefit from their services) that is a quite rare case in Georgian reality. We hope, this training will bring its small contribution to the enrichment of experience in this direction.
According to the local and international experience, development of social skills plays an important role in employment and the process of preparation for independent life. Development of these skills is especially important for the enhancement of the employability of youth with disabilities.
Three-days training is one of the activities, organized within the framework of the project, being implemented during the period of 2015-2017. As s result of the training, it is planned to hand over a full package of developed materials and guidebooks to the Children and Youth National Center. One of the goals of the project is to develop the capacity of the Children and Youth National Center, to be able to deliver similar (among them, designed for a mixed group of the participants) trainings for youth with disabilities and organizations, working with them. At the same time, it is planned to provide additional support to the grantees of Children and Youth Development Fund, for promotion of their capacity development and perfection of their services.
The final goal of the initiatives, funded within the framework of the project is to test different services directed at development of youth vocational skills and improvement of the employability and to provide the recommendations to the state entities for their institutional reflection in state programs
