GASW is involved in the project “Capacity Building of Professionals for Improving Small-Scale Alternative Services for Children with Severe Disabilities”, which is being implemented with financial assistance of UNICEF and USAID.
The goal of the project is to ensure delivery of the appropriate services for children with disabilities through the strengthening of the staff of small-scale alternative services and social workers; development of the mechanisms for supervision of professionals and service monitoring; strengthening of the service providers’ social advocacy skills.
Within the framework of the project, the members of the Guardianship-Custody Council will be trained. Trainings will be provided to social workers for ensuring effective services and advocacy skills. Within the framework of the project, training will be provided for members of the Guardianship-Custody Council and social workers, for ensuring effective services and advocacy skills as well as for the development of a tool for social workers’ supervision and monitoring of services.
For this purpose, working meetings, discussing the training module developed for social workers’ training were held on September 7 and 12. Four-days training for the first group of social workers of the guardianship-custody service will be conducted at the end of October. After that, stage-by stage trainings will be provided for social workers from different regions of Georgia.
