GASW has hosted Armenian, Azeri and Moldavian colleagues, within the framework of the project “Social Workers in Collaboration for Social Change in Eastern Neighbor Countries” that is being implemented in partnership with "Hifswerk Austria international", with EU financial assistance. The goal of the project is to contribute to the social well-being of vulnerable groups of population in the Eastern Neighborhood countries.
Number of meetings with local colleagues and visits to different services were carried out during the visit. The guests visited organization “First Step Georgia”, Association “Biliki’. Meeting with GASW and regional partners was also hosted by the UNICEF. The meeting on understanding of social worker’s role in a child well-being area was held. Mrs. Nino Shatberashvili, the Chairperson of the Association presented the report on the assessment of 2005-2015 Child Welfare Reform and Mrs. Mari Tsereteli, the Head of the Guardianship-Custody department of the Social Programs Department spoke about the current achievements and challenges. After the presentations, discussion on child welfare and social work, as one of the key foundation of the reform, was held between the local and international experts.
