Georgian Association of Social Workers (GASW) held a meeting with representatives of the monitoring groups of different entities. The meeting was organized within the framework of the project “Capacity Building of Professionals for Improving Small-Scale Alternative Services for Children With Severe Disabilities”, funded by the USAID and UNICEF. The working meeting was held on December 6, with participation of the representatives of the Social Service Agency Guardianship - Custody department, monitoring team of the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs, Public Defender’s office, monitoring team of the State Fund for Protection and Assistance of (statutory) Victims of Human Trafficking and UNICEF.
Shortages of a current methodology and tools for monitoring, as well as the issues requiring inter-agency coordination were discussed at the meeting. Participants have agreed on importance of sharing each other’s experience and introduction of the best monitoring practices, and also talked about the hindering factors. Organization of a similar meeting is planned after the development of standards for small family type houses for children with disabilities, to discuss the relevance of monitoring methodology in relation to these standards.
