A roundtable was held within the frames of the project “Enhancing Accessibility of Medical and Social Services for Persons with Disabilities”
On December 16th, within the frames of the project “Enhancing accessibility of medical and social services for persons with disabilities”, a roundtable discussion was held on the topic: “The role of primary healthcare and social work in realizing the health rights of persons with disabilities”. The roundtable was held at the hotel Holiday Inn and was organized by the Czech Republic Caritas and its partner organizations – GASW, Georgian Health Law and Bioethics Society and Georgian Association of Family Doctors.
The meeting was attended by the project team members, invited guests from various state and non-state bodies which are active in Georgia in the identification and responding to various needs of persons with disabilities. Representatives of partner organizations provided the audience with a short analytic report about the work conducted within the frames of the project in regards to the health rights of persons with disabilities.
GASW Chairperson, Nino Shatberashvili conducted a presentation on the importance of the role of a social worker in primary healthcare; while Social Work Coordinator, Natalia Bedianashvili provided information on the piloting of social work services within primary healthcare and the general work experience within the project, as well as the needs and barriers faced by persons with disabilities and their family members, the challenges faced by the social worker, etc.
At the end of the meeting, a healthy discussion was held on issues related to persons with disabilities. A set of aspects were revealed which need to be changed to support the well-being of persons with disabilities.

The project “Support to Social Inclusion of Youth with Disabilities” hosted a conference at Tbilisi Marriott
On December 14th the project “Support to Social Inclusion of Youth with Disabilities” hosted a conference at Tbilisi Marriott with the goal to summarize its results for the year and to present school social work and youth work concepts. The project is undertaken by GASW with People in Need, Czech international non-governmental organization with the financial support of Czech Development Agency. Both concepts were developed by relevant working groups operating within the project which included representatives of state and non-state sectors and the community of persons with disabilities. The conference was attended by the working group members, as well as a larger audience from the state and non-state sectors and the community of persons with disabilities. Starting from the next year, it is planned to resume the working groups and continue to refine the concepts which should be followed by advocating for the implementation of the concepts with the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Ministry of Education.
This conference was preceded by the final meetings in this year for both working groups on December 13th at Tbilisi Marriott. These meetings served the purpose of refining the concepts for the conference on December 14th.

10 დეკემბერი-ადამიანის უფლებათა საერთაშორისო დღე
ადამიანის უფლებების საერთაშორისო დღის დღის აღსანიშნავად საქართველოს სოციალურ მუშაკთა ასოციაციაში გაიმართა შეხვედრა სხვადასხვა სკოლის წარმომადგენელ მოსწავლეებთან თემაზე: „უფლებები და ვალდებულებები“. შეხვედრას უძღვებოდნენ ორგანიზაციის თანამშრომლები და წევრები. მათ მოსწავლეებს წარუდგინეს თემები ადამიანის უფლებებზე და ვალდებულებებზე, ადამიანის უფლებების დარღვევაზე და ა.შ. მოსწავლეებზე ჩაერთვნენ სხვადასხვა საინტერესო აქტივობებში, შეხვედრაზე მოამზადეს და წარმოადგინეს პრეზენტაციები ადამიანის ფუნდამენტალურ უფლებებზე, როგორიცაა სიცოცხლის, განათლების, აზრის გამოხატვის და თავისუფლების უფლება.
